Janne is the Nature Expert of Nurmes
Janne Juntunen, the service manager of Bomba Safari, is a native of Nurmes and therefore knows almost every stone and stump in Bomba's nature like the back of his hand. You couldn't find a better local expert on nature trips, and Janne especially enjoys enabling new experiences and adventures for our customers.
"The diversity of the job and the opportunity to utilize all my accumulated skills attracted me to the role of Bomba site manager. I couldn't imagine a more suitable work environment for myself than the breathtakingly beautiful nature of Nurmes. The best part of my job is definitely the genuine encounters with customers," says Juntunen.
Janne has previously worked as an entrepreneur and a restaurant shift manager, so the role of supervisor for the adventure services team feels natural to him. In his job, Janne is responsible for the daily operations of the program services, the customer experience, and its development. He also handles the maintenance of hiking equipment and gear, ensuring that customers are in safe hands during their excursions.
"Being in nature has always been a part of me, and this helps me create unforgettable experiences for Bomba's customers. In my free time, hunting is a beloved hobby, and I spend the autumns hunting big game with my two Jämthund dogs. I also enjoy biking along the beautiful Pielinen shoreline and am an avid fisherman. Whether it's spring, summer, or winter, you'll likely find me on Pielinen fishing for zander by jigging, trolling, or with nets," Juntunen describes his connection to nature.
Experiences and Activities for Everyone
At Bomba, familiar and easy guided summer activities for Finns include relaxing picnic rowing, pedal boating, and for the more adventurous, canoe and kayak safaris. On Finland's fourth largest lake, you can also enjoy a summer day leisurely paddleboarding, with guidance provided by our instructor.
"The hilly landscapes of Pielinen are uniquely impressive, and I encourage you to admire Nurmes' nature from both the water and the land. You can also explore the hilly terrain with an electric fat bike or the trendy Coopop electric vehicle, which makes moving in nature effortless," suggests Juntunen.
Bomba in Winter Too
In addition to summer activities and golfing, Janne is also fascinated by the thrill of snowmobiling. You can experience the enchanting snowy Bomba on twilight safaris, where the nature of North Karelia shows its most mystical hues.
"In addition to various snowmobile safaris, I definitely recommend relaxing snowshoe safaris and beginner skiing trips suitable for all levels of fitness. For families and groups, winter fun can also be found in sledding hills," Juntunen recommends.
