Winter activities in Bomba
Winter means short days and long, starry nights. The snow covers fells and forests, Lake Pielinen is frozen and the Bomba village turns into winter wonderland. Windows are covered with frost and tree branches adorned with snow crystals. North Karelia is a snow sure area with snowdrifts reaching up to one metre in height. Here you can really enjoy the northern winter!
Nature is quiet as many forest animals are hibernating or resting. A hare has left its tracks in the delicate snow covering the lake and a squirrel hope in the treetops. Foxes and wolverines move around in search of winter food.
Come to Bomba to enjoy crisp winter days, the tingling of frost on your cheeks, the stunning white scenery and the rare silence of nature.
Winter Adventures
Head out to the frozen Lake Pielinen, the rugged forests and the snowy fells! On snowshoes, skis or a snowmobile. On our evening tours, you may also see the magnificent dance of the Northern Lights in the sky.
Bomba offers numerous beautiful routes for snowshoers. Visit the Tower of Hope or the cliffs of Ellu to admire the fell landscape! Let the beauty and silence of the forest empower you. There are plenty of lean-to shelters along the trail, and you can buy snacks to take with you from Break Sokos Hotel Bomba.
Our snowmobile safaris go through North Karelian forests and, weather permitting, also on the frozen Lake Pielinen. On an evening safari, your route will be illuminated only by the headlights of the snowmobile, the beautiful moonlight and the starry sky. On a day tour, you will drive through the snowy forest and admire the magnificent fell scenery.
Toboggan runs and cross-country skiing are fun winter outdoor activities at their best.
