The landscapes of the great lakes feel like home to Olli, and he spent many of his childhood summers in the heart of Saimaa, in Puumala, his father’s hometown. Having graduated as a wilderness and nature guide in the summer of 2024, Olli has experience moving through nature in all seasons, whether on ice, water, or land. Under this adventure guide’s supervision, you’ll be in safe hands with a professional who truly appreciates the wonders and beauty of Finnish nature. Whether you want to master kayaking or go snowshoeing in a winter wonderland under the Northern Lights, Olli is the perfect guide for the job.
Olli thrives on working year-round by the lakes, doing what he loves, and sharing his knowledge by inspiring adventurous clients to explore new outdoor activities. As an adventure guide for Bomba Safaris, Olli leads customers to unforgettable experiences, whether it’s a hike through the rugged forests of North Karelia, a kayaking trip on the clear waters of Lake Pielinen, or an electric fat bike adventure through the diverse terrain of Nurmes.
"Freedom of thought and movement are important to me, and I want to hold onto them. Working as an adventure guide is more than just a job – it’s a lifestyle that requires passion, dedication, and a love and respect for nature and people," Olli explains.
Lake landscapes are synonymous with peace of mind for Olli, and water sports are especially close to his heart. Most recently, Olli has delved into whitewater kayaking, a challenging and exhilarating activity for the most daring adventurers. As the name suggests, whitewater kayaking takes place in flowing waters – rapids and rivers – so the sport demands strong paddling skills and good body control. It's also crucial to understand the water conditions and always use proper safety gear.
"During the open water season, kayaking trips are a great way to immerse yourself in nature. When the ice sets in, ice skating offers a completely different perspective on the same lake environment," Olli says.
The job of an adventure guide combines physical activity, a deep understanding of nature, working with different people, and the most beautiful landscapes as the workplace in various environments. An adventure guide is also, at their best, a storyteller and a source of inspiration for clients' new adventures and personal growth.
"Looking at life from a broad perspective brings meaning to me, and it feels especially good when shared with others. I'm also lucky to have a partner who shares the same values with me," Olli concludes.
